Today we celebrated my Clara, my youngest, turning 5. I feel mixed emotions about her growing up. So glad to be done with the annoying baby stuff, ie diapers, bottles, middle of the night wakings, and all the crying, but...it's rather nuts not to have a baby anymore. I've had babies for more than 9 years now. And now they are getting all grown up. Ok, she's just 5, but sheesh, she starts school soon.
It does really go too too fast. Must make the most of my time while I can.
Butterfly exhibit was great. Lots of wonderful photo ops. And yesterday was a day long road trip to see Ulysses S. Grant's birthplace, an underground railroad home, and an indian burial ground. I am exhausted and I still need to finish celebrating, dying eggs, making Easter bread and more. Whew!
Cute shot. Interesting that we both have butterfly photos today. When I saw yours I figured you were from the San Diego area. Where was your butterfly exhibit. They are so much fun to see...... and photograph.... and having them land on you everywhere.. Last year one landed on my camera and just stayed there....
Don't worry, they grow up and things will be different ..and better and better ...mine are 11 and 16 and I love it ! Teenagers are really "interesting" ;)

Happy birthday Clara, I seem to remember you had a birthday the same time last year! I hope you had a spiffing day with lots of cake and presents. I was 5 once, it was fun.
I love the wonder and joy in her face -- how lovely to celebrate a birthday with a butterfly on your finger. And I know all too well how fast babies become children, teenagers, adults. And how you miss holding a baby.
