I thank you Lord that I am smarter than the humans...
...and for this bounty of seed for which I am about to consume.
He was my friend, this little squirrely. And now he is my nemesis. Funny how that works out sometimes.
This little bugger has worked out a way to jump onto the birdfeeder and circumvent the squirrel blocker thingy and get at the food. As a result, the birds are being scared off and the food is emptying out more quickly.
At first I found it cute and clever and now I've taken to running out and threatening him with wild yelling and "squirrel stew!"
They can even outsmart the feeders that are squirrel proof. I have two very expensive feeders, that the squirrels have figured out that just by jumping on them swings the feeders hard enough that seeds fall out.
Ours have also figured out the squirrel proof feeders. I love your squirrel "prayer" of thanks :-) Now it's up to you to thank God for him posing so well for you to get this great photo! :-)
Squirrels are smart and a big nuisance! We have squirrel problems in our house. They chew their way into our attic. We fix the hole and they chew a new way in again! They're rats with fuzzy tails!
He looks so sweet and innocent there but I agree...my neighbor has a squirrel that does the same thing. I was taking pictures of him but now he is just ticking me off because he eats all the food and the birds have none which means I have no bird pictures. Ha!
i read somewhere here quite a while back that if you lather (the wires or poles that they use to get on to the feeder) with vaseline, that they will stop. maybe cut some twigs off so they can't jump over. that reminds me, i don't like squirrels, too, (long story) and that's why i don't have a photo of them on my albums. i would not honour them with a photo. :-)
@bobfoto The naughty monkey before he was consumed by something. He got soooo fat and then we never saw him again...so just guessing he became prey. Oh this is a squirrel, by the way. Maybe twice the size of the chipmunk or more cause this one got FAT!!!
@bobfoto Ah, good. This week I graduated on to snakes and raccoons. I TTed with my snake shot. Though I was accused of being deceptive. It looked huge and threatening when it was only a tiny tiny baby. the lens plays tricks sometimes. Do you project x anymore? I had to quit my group as I just didn't have the time or gumption anymore. It was hard to do and kinda sad, but I don't really miss it, but for the team aspect of it. I appreciate the freedom not having that commitment allows.
I dropped out of Project X, for the same reasons... I found myself feeling that I was surrounded by amazing artists whom were all super creative and I had no flow of creativity.
@bobfoto I'm reading a book now about a photographer from the mid 1800s. He did selfies. He looks kinda like you. It's a pretty good book. He wasn't primarily a selfie artist. He was a war photographer. Worked with Brady in the US during the Civil War. Did lots of shots of Lincoln. Yeah, I was the loser of the group. I made it all the amazing people on this site and I was nowhere near as good. Funny how we did that.
@amandal - oooh, interesting book. I read one a few years back about the work of Edward S Curtis and that was a lovely book. Just finished a book about Francis Williams, an anthropologist in Papua between the wars and he too dabbled in photography. The book is about his photographs but talks about his anthropology. Its a little odd, but interesting.
@bobfoto Never knew of you to be a reader...u must have more time? I loved his studio portraits of Lincoln...but yes, bodies on battlefield were quite gruesome. Did tell the story of war though and put it into perspective for Americans, though. Thanks for your comments. Dull b&w bfly did make TT despite being colorless. Off to watch a movie and drink a beer with Mike. I wish you well.
