Alternate title: Action, action, we want action.
A-C-T-I-O-N. Action, boys action!
It is so fun for me to be at live sporting events. The atmosphere is charged with excitement and fun. There are so many interesting things to see. All those crazy fans are my favorites (here is one such nutter: http://365project.org/amandal/themes-challeng/2014-06-08 ). The smells of the stadium food are amazing. And I'll admit, it's fun to eat the junk, too. You crack open the peanuts, eat the nuts out and throw the shells to the floor, crunching your feet in them the rest of the game. We even found my beer so I was one happy lady. I was so distracted by it all, that cacophony of sights, sounds and smells, that I barely watched the game. But I did try to capture the action of it and was please with what I caught. See the pitchers leg straight up to the sky. He threw a 90 or so mph pitch. And here I caught the batter swinging and hitting the ball. Can you see the ball traveling off the bat? Crack! Fun, fun action and event.
I did end up going this weekend, so it was 2 games in a week. I'd only been one other time since we moved here.
Fav! You caught a great scene of the ball park.....brilliant composition and action. It's been ages since I've been to a baseball game. As a child I was a huge Indians fan and I feel the same as what you expressed so well in your narrative. Used to go with my dad or friends almost weekly. How fun! BTW, on a different subject, do they still have those bratwurst stands in downtown Cincy?
@cimes1 I don't know, I don't get downtown too much. They do have brats at the stadium, though. Mike got one once and hated it. I went to Spring training games in FL with my dad growing up and games at Boardwalk and Baseball (remember that place). So much fun. Thanks for your great comments and fav, my friend!!!
@amandal I've never been to B & B but I remember my cousin (who lives in Indiana) going there every time they came to visit. As I recall it was near Circus World, right? I loved Circus World & was so sorry to see it close.
Ah super. I'm afraid we don't get crowds like this for the Houston Astros at the moment - they're not at the top of their game. A ball game is always a fun outing though. We took my dad and brother to their first ball game last week - they were amazed, not just by the ball game, but by the whole spectacle. So American! :-)
@jamibann So fun, too. I'd love to see a polo match or cricket or something less American sometime. Glad your family had fun at the game. More about the people watching to me.
Fabulous action shot! Sounds like you had fun. We went to a Mariners game in Seattle a couple of years ago and I almost fell asleep. I had the most fun watching a grown man run back and forth on the roof chasing the seagulls away. It was a painful experience!!
@kwind You are so NOT an American:). You don't like the excitement and crazy people? Yeah, the sport itself is rather boring. But if you stuff yourself with food and people watch (and having the camera helped), it's rather fun.
awesome shot you got there, miss a. i like going to a baseball game and people-watch. with the camera, it's more fun. our team is coming your way next week, be gentle!
That was great timing to catch that ball in motion, especially where we can see it. I was really thrilled to see a match last year in the US. It's so funny to watch all the movements before bowling and striking.
@tremerryn We saw 2 games in a week. The first was a big win, the second...this one, was a loss. I think anyway. We left early at both games.
