What is Going On Out There? by alophoto

What is Going On Out There?

Looking out my Rear Window, like a busybody neighbor...and wondering why the house next door won't sell. Maybe these people will be the one. I like her shirt. They look nice. Wait, what is he doing to her? Did I see that right?

A old friend from High School asked me to do a shot of Rear Window, his favorite Alfred Hitchcock. It was one of mine, too. Come on...Jimmy Steward and a big flashy camera that helped save his life.

I think I will have a funnier or more literal version posted later today so stay tuned.

And because I am so literal and quite quirky, too, I came up with this alternate idea: http://365project.org/amandal/themes-challeng/2014-10-26
I love that movie too! Good good interpretation. Those big windows are so fantastic btw and the light that lays upon you is so soft and beautiful!

Very nice recreation, Amanda! Have you seen the modern day remake, "Disturbia?"

Oh, such a fav! One of my favorite of the Hitchcock's films. So nicely captured (and I love the hat)

Instantly reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window - love it, fav!

Loved Rear Window. We have it on dvd and I really enjoyed it. Hoping someone would do it so you have made my day. A fav for making my day.

@newbank I adore and live for making days...thank you!! Look out for my other version. Tell me if it's awful and I will take it down. Still editing, though. In a bit I will post and link above.

I just watched the video, got it from the library. I was terribly bored with it, best part was the early scenes with the big broken camera (not that I like broken cameras). Love the views from your room. I watched Vertigo the other night, liked it better, but my image for Vertigo doesn't really depict the movie very well.

@bill_fe Vertigo was trippy. I loved both. I'm going to start watching his films once a month. I have a list of the top 25 that I hope to see.

@susale @soboy5 @linnypinny @thresheg @cejaanderson

Thanks so much, guys. Really appreciated your great comments and kindness. No, I didn't see Disturbia, Jane. Any good?

I did post another, more silly, more literal version of this shot a few moments ago: http://365project.org/amandal/themes-challeng/2014-10-26

@bill_fe I'm torn, but did like the funny take on the other. This one is more appropriately movie like.

That was a fantastic movie! In my opinion one of Jimmy Stewart's best! Of course it was directed by the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. Fav for the red dress!

Careful what you look for! Great idea and take on the film

@neatz Selfies help me to straighten up. I had to move furniture and lots of stuff for this shot. Sometimes I even clean my windows for a photo:).
October 24th, 2014
I like the dark look of this photo! Its like you are all alone with your thoughts and the day has almost gone but you are looking for life beyond the window - any sort of life! Although I know you have a huge life!
October 24th, 2014
@amandal So impressive full marks for effort. There are not many corners of my home that are empty!!
October 24th, 2014
I have not heard of this movie but love your photo. You sure have selfless and creativity down to a science. I love your house too, all the windows.

Perfect interpretation of the movie. Love the "petite robe rouge" (little red dress)
October 24th, 2014
Love this more casual pose - I'd choose this one.
October 24th, 2014
Great capture and interpretation of the movie. You can use the dress to interpret "Lady in Red" -Chris de Burgh's song- which I love.
October 24th, 2014
Awesome and a Fav! Who needs TV at your house!
