Mike and I have been together for 20 years now on December 28th. We went on our first date on this day in 1994. We shared a slice of pecan pie and a blueberry shake at Denny's and watched the movie Say Anything. And we talked, oh how we could talk.
Has it really been 2 decades? Can I be old enough for that? Yes, yes it is and yes I can.
Back in our early dating days, I used a line on him when we were at a fireworks show: I kissed him, then looked at the sky bursting in fireworks. "Yep, you still do it for me." And he still does. I am a blessed woman.
I never would have thought that 20 years later, we'd still be together with 3 kids and a dog. Or that I'd be driving a minivan. Or that we would live in Ohio.
Glad I said yes when he asked me out way back then, two decades ago. I love where we are and where we came from. Love this man.
A relationship to be envied and fun to see how you share your lives, including your photography. Great processing -- love the fireworks and the lighting.
Wonderful processing on this. What a sweet romance you had (and are still in the midst of). It's been 27 years for my marriage and I understand what you mean. Congratulations on 20 years and a wonderful family!
Congratulations. 20 years does not just happen from romance alone. It takes commitment, hard work, patience, give and take. Well done for that. Enjoy and celebrate and wishing you many more years to create memories in.
@kph129 The fireworks were added in using Picmonkey. I was trying to make it really special (and wanted to tell the fireworks story, too). I even added some subtle heart bokeh. Thanks for your kind words and fav!
@amandal - no they just want to suck the sugary sweetness because that's what you guys are! your best photo for me is the "we saw mommy kissing santa claus" my hat's off to you on that!
Who knew you could be awesome and still rock the minivan life! We recently passed our similar anniversary. We both have awesome guys. Wish I had a kissing gazebo though ;)
I bet it was great practicing for this photo! Its utterly perfect and I'm envious of your setting! I want to find one of my own to do this - with lots of practice! fav
@northy Not much. He's pretty dreamy. thanks, my friend. Any suggestions for how to edit this for my Hatters shot. I'm fried. I have some that I will pick between. Thinking sc us.
Congratulations. There is nothing better in this world than the relationship that you describe. I know, I have it with Tom. After 33 years I'm still in love with him - crazy in love. He makes me laugh and he picks me up when I break into pieces. And, we talk. Don't lose any of this my friend.
The lighting in the gazebo, the fireworks, the kiss on tippy-toes — what a romantic scene. Excellent outcome for your efforts. Congrats to you on finding that someone who makes your life complete.
well - it already looks pretty fairy-tale-ish so i'm not sure you need to edit... i don't think i'd SC it, though... but that's just me... you might want to add some kind of dreamy texture and tones, and maybe bokeh-fy some of the lights or something?
Congrats to the two of you, Amanda. How I love how you write sharing the passion and your husband and life in writing and photos as well. Love your photo, the fireworks and you on your toes. FAV
@darsphotos Aw, thanks so much, my friend. I did the same shot with a different edit @madhatters today. We were doing story endings this week til the new year and I thought this was a good "Happily Ever After" shot:). So cool that you had a meet up!
Really, really wonderful shot, and I love the sentiment that you expressed! May your love keep blossoming, and may you share many more decades together and make lots of memories, and I hope to be able to follow you part of that journey!! Here is to a wonderful new year!! Oh, and FAV....for the photo, and so that I can see what true happiness looks like whenever I need a jolt!
It's so nice to come back and see familiar people doing familiar things in familiar places—I've missed you and your story! What a fabulous shot, and what a sport he still is. How's your Red Riding Hood alter ego? Did you do a whole new thing like that this year?
@squamloon I did some but I was the wolf this time around. I'll tag you on a shot and check my rrh tag. One I liked was me as wolf and red at the same time:) So glad to see you back!
