I got home last night after my first business trip in over 10 years. It went well, but was full of hiccups like driving through a scary snow storm to get the the airport and a mispelling of my name on the ticket and flying into the wrong airport (someone else booked the flight and got some things wrong). All in all it was good to travel again. And I was glad to have a coworker along with me in the drama.
Didn't have room or time to take my good camera so I took the old point and shoot. Had time for one snap and was terribly annoyed by the delay and everything about the camera, but the size.
This is NOT a lensbay shot, just blurry one from my stinking camera that I wanted to throw to the ground. But I liked the light and the scene and thought that the wooziness might convey the frenzy of the travels.
It certainly expresses how I feel about travel - the blurriness speaks to confusion and rushing and all the things I do not like about long distance travel! Nicely captured.
excellent shot, kiddo. too bad about the stupid mistakes, i say stupid both the spelling mistake and airport. someone isn't doing a good job! those mistakes cost money, time. fire the person! :-) you should have a big handbag so you can bring your camera, but don't diss the old point and shoot. it's still doing a good job as this photo suggests.
@summerfield The person that did it is dealing with a bunch and in the process of leaving the company. Her dad has cancer. I give her grace as she is training me and has lots on her plate.
I used to travel so much, and it ground me down after a while. I did 50+ flights all over the world one year, and am now very happy that I rarely travel. Good luck with the new job, I can empathise with your shot here, knowing how I used to feel in yet another airport!
@cejaanderson I was so grateful to get home. Flights were being cancelled like crazy, but the weather there wasn't bad and home wasn't bad either. Glad I wasn't in Boston or something.
Wondered why you'd been....though I'm a bit absent, too much on with kiddies. Tried my old camera that I had a love affair with at the time ready for taking on a beach holiday that I don't want to take new camera on. It felt arghghhhggghah. I hope I don't get too grumpy with it on holiday.
I've was thinking about you yesterday and am so surprised you were able to fly out with all those blizzards up there. I traveled a lot in my younger days, but flying is not for me any more unless it would be 1st class :-) I actually like the wannabe lensbaby photo.....just needs straightening. Who would know? Remember it's the photographer not the equipment that deserves all the credit for creativity, processing, whatever. Whew, glad you're safe.
@newbank It's amazing how annoying old cameras are once you have a new one that works so well...like butter in your hands. My point and shoot is pretty exceptionally awful. It can take decent photos, but I didn't have time for it. Can't believe i got one snap on my whole trip! Yes, life with work is sucking up my time these day. The adjustment is hard. Have a great trip!!!
Wow -- first in 10 years? I start to feel anxious if I haven't gone every few weeks . . . but that's why my album is full of airport shots, and yours much more interestingly creative! This airport shot is interesting for all the lines and curves.
@jyokota I've been home full time for nearly 10 years. Probably first time with business travel in 11. Wow. I do travel a bit for pleasure, though. Mostly we drive though as it is so pricey to fly 5 of us!
Before kids I used to travel all the time, spent half my life in suitcases and between airports. I don't miss the lonely business trips but I so miss discovering new places and being able to read on my travels! Cool shot
The small point and shoots are difficult to keep really still which is vital for a clear photo. However this photo has got a shiny feeling about it - good to see that flag and get over that nightmare journey!
Once you go DSLR you can never go back ...... LOL felt the same way taking my P&S with me Saturday ... I used to love my P&S
So glad you made it home ... Do you only work while the kids are in school?
@lesip Clara is only at school for 3 hours, so I have to have her cared for for a couple hours before school on my work days. Summers and school breaks will be tricky. Only 3 days a week, though and 4 hours per day. 12 hours only, but it is surprisingly kicking my butt!
A dizzy shot, Amanda. But perfect for the dramatic day or time you had. Really, the wrong airport. Timing was not good as far as weather but cannot predict that in advance. They need to make smaller great cameras for us to carry with us.
airports are wonderful spots for photography, but i inevitably tend to have my hands full of luggage and rushing around so often don't get a chance to pull it out... i have to laugh... i don't travel much for work, and rarely by plane... but i'm always game to go on a field trip to see the sights... so sorry about all the mishaps though... not a fun way to start off!

Funny how our standards change on equipment... now that @darylo has that fancy machine I feel totally inadequate... :^)
