Defeated

Ever have one of those days/weeks?

Got my hair all cut off yesterday. Not too pleased with how it looks. Still battling lice. I don't think I have it, but am uncertain and wanted my huge quantities of hair gone just in case. Michael is not pleased. I'm not much either.

Hard week.
I feel for you :(
March 10th, 2015
I am SO sorry! They are such a nuisance! I feel for you!
March 10th, 2015
I have had so many bad haircuts over the years but ultimately it is just hair and it will grow back faster than you think! Lice is a real pain but will soon disappear, I had them a few times as a kid and just waiting for the day my girls get it and with their mop of hair it won't be fun! Just a bad week, you will soon look back and smile and I bet you look as beautiful as ever, you may just not see it yet! Big hugs xx
March 10th, 2015
Oh my, I'm sorry... lice??? I just had to battle it one with my daughter when she was in kindergarden... Hope it's not, and if it is, it would be easier with short hair.
March 10th, 2015
Take a snap of you - you might be quite wrong with your hair!
March 10th, 2015
Sorry you're feeling down! Kennedy had lice in Kindergarten. It was a nightmare. Luckily she was the only one that got it. I'm sure your hair is lovely!
March 10th, 2015
sending good vibes your way. .. and I bet you look super cute with your new haircut!
March 10th, 2015
Great b&w ....sorry you are feeling sad. Hope your week starts getting better
March 10th, 2015
Its a huge problem and nobody is safe! That horrible slight itch - every time you feel that, you think, lice! Put your head up Amanda - you will look younger, I bet and having the hair frame the face can be very pretty!.
March 10th, 2015
Excellent and a feeling that I am more than used to
March 10th, 2015
Aww, don't be to hard on yourself Amanda. As long as the lice problem is gone, your hair will grow back and i'm sure you look great with the new look. Summer heat is coming and hair grows very fast and healthy at that time. Take care !!
March 10th, 2015
Ahwww.. you'll get used to it and might even like it.... hang in there, it will always grow back. Nice photo to show your frustration
March 10th, 2015
Yes, oh golly yes, sit on the kitchen floor and cry? Yes indeed I have. Beauty is not what our hair looks like. It's from within. Stand proud, let your beauty shine out your eyes. But I do know that's really hard to do. Hope things improve. Sounds like you need some spoiling.
March 10th, 2015
Boo. Short hair is very cool! you are probably in a bit of shock
March 10th, 2015
Put a red lipstick, a pair of long golden earrings and you will love your new hair cut! I'm sure you are pretty, brunette!
About the lices...I'm feeling sorry for you but the battle always lasts 2weeks...and you will win! Come on Amanda! You are a warrior !!
March 10th, 2015
hey, you stop that! listen to what your friends are saying. you are a very pretty woman, with an enviable sense of humour and you're going to let this get you down? hair grows, lice go (eventually). just think of it this way: some women are losing their hair because of treatments for their sickness and they aren't even sure if they will live through it. listen to maggiemae and do what corrine has suggested. and i want a picture. (that was said in a very firm voice but with a lot of love.)
March 10th, 2015
Gasoline is a good lice killer...aww Amanda long or short it always grows and you are a gem either way! Wear it proud ...:)
March 10th, 2015
as @newbank so eloquently puts it and deep breaths , look up and smile, I am sure you look just lovely, your hair will soon grow back x

and let me add, lost count of the times the kids had lice. I gave up with all the chemicals and used to wash their hair (Katie's was to her waist) fill it with conditioner, sit in front of the TV and comb and comb with the nit comb, what didn't slide out with the conditioner, the rest had their legs broken and apparently can't lay eggs.

Hugs to you Amanda, back weeks are hard x
March 10th, 2015
Such an emotionally expressive shot. Even the black and white is symbolic of "black and white" thinking (no middle ground). Those darn lice are so difficult to get rid of--anyone would feel defeated. I have faith that you will conquer them! Any hair style change takes time to get "used to." I had one of those days recently, I called it my day of "poor choices" (in reference to the goofy Rob Lowe commercials).
March 10th, 2015
I say go blonde and spike it out!! Go wild!!! plus the bleach will kill any of those buggies left.
March 10th, 2015
Gosh...you have your hands full and this shot shows your angst...the lice will clear up and your hair will grow
March 10th, 2015
But this is a great photo.
March 10th, 2015
I love short hair! You will too! But if not it will grow back. Condition and comb daily and the lice will go! Great photo, look forward to some cheery ones in a few days. Lipstick idea is a good one!
March 10th, 2015
I'm so sorry you are feeling down but on the sunny side . "THIS ROCKS"
Do one of the kiddos have lice? If you got your haircut at haircuttery they guarantee you'll be happy so go back girlfriend..... I got my haircut short one time since I've been married and that's most of my life lol....My husband really has no opinions or comments on what I do but boy he had one then and it wasn't good.... To this day when I go to get it cut he asks Not short right ? Wish we lived closer, I think we would be close friends and I could give you a big HUG and a bottle of wine .....
March 10th, 2015
So sorry to hear of your plight and your shorn locks. BUT WOW -- your photo is fantastic and conveys such despair. I hope you aren't at that level...just sad that you miss your hair. And it will grow back (but once I cut mine -- admittedly a bit longer than yours), I've never grown it all back!
March 10th, 2015
Oh, Amanda.... I feel for you on the lice issue. My apartment once got fleas from a visiting cat and even though we neem oiled that cat every night and I spread diatomaceous earth all over the place, I still worried for weeks. Oh a happier note: Nice photo as always. I like the off-center framing and the processing choices. And as one who has had short hair for years and not every short hair cut is a great one, it will grow back.
March 10th, 2015
Oh...and oh ... sorry, sorry. Wonderfully expressive image though. Hats? Hair gels? With your wonderful sense of humor surely something fun and interesting will occur to you until you can reclaim your style.
March 10th, 2015
Just thinking about your previous selfies in my mind, it's not your hair that comes to mind, but your smile.
March 10th, 2015
As always, you have used your creative talent to showcase emotion perfectly. I just wish it wasn't sadness! I agree with Jane - when I see your selfies, I may think brilliant, adorable, scary, timeless, hilarious - but I've never thought - look at her hair...just saying...
March 11th, 2015
Hair - your crown of glory! I do understand! On a funnier note, my oldest was a little guy back when Mohawks were a style. So one day, after doing his hair up just right, using some kind of hairspray that would have held up in a hurricane, I then sent him to his dad's. After his shower, there were so many flakes of that hairspray left that his dad thought it was lice and called me up and accused me of not taking good care of him. Imagine my joy when I was able to call him back and report that HE was not taking good care enough to wash the child's hair properly! Ahh! Ya just gotta love divorce, huh?
March 11th, 2015
Wonderful, expressive shot. I got my hair cut yesterday also. It is really short and I'm feeling a little naked. Would love to see a pic, I bet it's cute. May just take some getting used to.
March 11th, 2015
It's only hair!!! The best thing about it, is, it will grow back!! No one will stop liking or loving you because your hair is short!! If they do, they weren't worth having in the first place!! You didn't see me the one time I cut mine all off but for about 2 inches!!! I was so sick of it, that I told her to cut it off and she did!! I looked so stupid, but damn if it didn't feel good, nothing to do but wash and let it dry on it's own!! My husband hated it, then to make things worse, I had to renew my driver's license that same day!! Swear to God!! UGLIEST photo you have ever seen!! ROFL! Every time I have to show it, people look at me and some have even said "That's not you!!" Feel better about it, and know you are who you are, inside, not outside!!! FAV!
March 11th, 2015
Hey Amanda! I've had a long battle with lice too. I somehow ended it by coloring my hair with the use of bleach to make it blonde. :D Maybe you want to try different hair colors! Just make sure you don't overdose :)
March 11th, 2015
very emotive.
March 11th, 2015
It's a new day and I hope things are looking up or this hasn't even happened yet according to your date . If that is the case DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR ! LOL I'm sure you're just trying to say ahead of the game...
March 11th, 2015
Poor thing but bet you look terrific and your hair will grow back.
March 11th, 2015
Very dramatic
March 11th, 2015
An emotive capture. Lice are such a pain, kids get rid of them, then get re-infected.A vicious circle at times.
March 11th, 2015
Ouch. My daughter had three geneartions on her head once. And nobody else got them! My mom always said, "It's not a sin to get them, but it is to keep them!"
March 11th, 2015
It's only hair and hair grows. That might not be helpful at the moment I'm sure but just look in that mirror and see how cute it looks!! I do love the photo!
March 12th, 2015
I want to see your short hair
I imagine you look beautiful
I am feeling deflated atm almost same spelling as defeated
Sigh
March 12th, 2015
@annied Well get blown up again and shine. I'm trying to do the same. My sis will help me with the hair. It's just hair. But your fading face...what can you do about that? Is there cream for that?;-) Sorry, lady. Hope and pray it gets better for you!
March 12th, 2015
@amandal oh dear I don't use creams much or lippy - I will be fine it is justa very exhausting and frustrating time - and the emotions are taking over lol
March 12th, 2015
I bet it's cute! Or will be when your sis or a stylist takes over. Red lipstick, pretty earrings, mascara & eyeshadow and a bit of blush will help. Reading all the comments I didn't realize lice was so common these days....YIKES!!!! I remember back when I was in grade school decades ago they used to have lice checks at school, and I used to dread that with a passion thinking "what if they found some on me?" Once in a while someone would be targeted and the kids used to make fun of them. I guess one never knows where you can pick them up along with HORRORS....bed bugs!!! I hate bugs especially on me.....LOL! Anyway, cheer up. You will be fine and it's not the end of the world kiddo.
March 12th, 2015
Pam
Oh no! I remember those days. One year my daughter brought home lice 6 times! We finally figured out it was her reading partner. Wow what a year that was! I had hair down to my butt. I cut it all off. I feel your pain. It doesn't look bad at all, and I look forward to seeing some eyes with that hair soon:)
March 12th, 2015
Short hair is sassy and sexy! Rock it!
March 12th, 2015
@eyeamlisa Not according to Mr. L:(.
March 12th, 2015
emotional image .... lots of interesting reading here .... I'll bet your sister will make your hair stylish and adorable!
March 12th, 2015
Amanda, you have such a way of conveying your feelings through your photography. This one is so poignant. It's how you were feeling at the time, and you may yet be feeling the same. I'm sorry about all the darn struggles.
March 12th, 2015
@amandal give it time, he will learn to love it! If not, no worries, it will grow.
March 12th, 2015
its a very powerful shot Amanda...full of emotion
March 12th, 2015
Your hair will grow again, don't worry. Love this shot.
March 12th, 2015
On Tuesday I had breakfast with a handful of my former co-workers. One of the guys didn't show up again. This was the second time in the past two months. We just wrote it off that it was because of the bitter cold winter. This past Tuesday we learned that he was diagnosed (12/30/14) with small cell cancer that is very aggressive. He asks that no one call or visit. He wants to spend what remaining time he has with his family. Please tell Mr. L he still has you to hold in his arms and is able to show you his love!
March 12th, 2015
@skipt07 Great wisdom, Skip. Thank you for sharing!
March 13th, 2015
ugh... i hate hair cuts period.. also hate lice... but tomorrow is another day and these are very small problems in the grand scheme of things... breathe!!!!
March 13th, 2015
I really like this photo a lot. Your hair looks awesome. Now to put your face up and post it in color. It will grow out. Have you ever had a bad haircut and it will not work worth anything you do? Well think of it this way as it needs time to adjust too. Play with it and have fun with it. You are beautiful. What do your kids and husband think? I hope the lice is all gone from your house. Take care
March 13th, 2015
My hubby calls them "first world problems," (not original to him, certainly), but it doesn't lessen the sting. On the photog side, I like the off center composition and portrayal of some very visceral emotions. On the personal side, I send serene tranquil anti-lice wishes out to your house.
March 14th, 2015
Oh, sweetie, one of those days, no make that those weeks, or those months....:-(( I know how you feel, but hopefully things will start looking up soon! Dealing with sickness and nasty bugs on top of going back to work just drains one out.... Oh, btw, I liked the horizontal format of this shot even more with all that negative space to the left.
March 14th, 2015
I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better now.
March 17th, 2015
Very poignant photo. I am sorry about your troubles. Short hair does have its benefits, I bet you are rocking the new do!
March 19th, 2015
@kt8ird I mostly hate it and man does it stick up in the morning...but it will grow. Thanks!
