A Break Up at Coffee House? by alophoto

A Break Up at Coffee House?

Yesterday we took a day trip to Columbus, OH and visited the science museum there called COSI. Afterwards, we went to German village to our favorite book store (it is simply amazing and a huge maze of books) and German restaurant. We parked right outside of this coffee shop and I noticed people in the window.

I didn't take time to observe, just took a hurried snap. I've always wanted a people in a window of a cafe type shot and moved on excited to get my shot but feeling rather creepy for taking it.

Only today did I notice when I uploaded the image that the couple isn't sweet and cute as I imagined but engaged in a serious looking discussion. Perhaps a break up. He's the one doing it. And giving her the "It's not you, it's me" line.

Looking at this shot, kinda makes me want to cry.

Am I wrong, are they just talking politics or religion or something serious?

Today is the day that Michael and I started dating 21 years ago. And I post a break up shot. It is not foreshadowing. We are planning a date out. I think we've gone out every year on this day for 21 years!
She looks too relaxed. I think he's telling a boring story about his work. Have a wonderful date night. It's fun you know the date of your first date. I just know our first date was in June of 1969 but the actual date got lost in the dust in a corner of my brain.

Well, they are TALKING, which is good! I see so many couples that are together, and they just eat their dinner next to each other without uttering a word at a restaurant. Now that makes me cry.
I like the German village in Columbus! We drove there a couple of times from Ann Arbor. The only problem at any German restaurant there were the portions - impossible for a human! :) Is the Science Center there good? I haven't been there yet.

@featherstone Maybe it had been a long time in coming? I don't know. Hope it was your idea, though. I'd much prefer capture an engagement!

@vera365 Not talking couples always breaks my heart. Now people are so disengaged with their technology, etc. German village is great. We just got the buffet at the restaurant and you eat what you want. We didn't overdo it.

The museum is pretty incredible and was well worth a day spent!

i think he was just telling her a serious story and she's listening.

@summerfield Gee, I hope so. Just has a sadness about it. No tears luckily!

Great capture...he doesn't have a beverage but she does...who knows what's going on :)

I agree that you have captured a serious conversation--you've captured drama indeed.

Great candid. I hope your night out goes better than this couple! Congratulations on 21 years!

No no no. They have no coffee in front of them yet, so he's saying, 'so what's it to be then ... skinny latte, americano, hot chocolate ...?, and she's just trying to decide! Lovely coffee shop capture!

Super candid capture

Quite the interesting capture and narratives. Perhaps they are not a couple. Could this be a brother and sister team, discussing the family holiday drama? Nicely captured no matter what is going on!

It certainly has a story in it and it makes you wonder what that is.

You can see the way he is clasping his hands in front of him to give him strength - or power! She is willing to listen but is planning her response! Fascinating!

Powerful capture and insightful observations.

Oh,I want to read a different story! They had just started dating,he is a little shy and tense, but she is bored and just not ready to reach for his hands over the table.Hey,the story is "open" with a big question mark :) Great street shot!

Enjoy your date night. I bet these people are on a blind date and have just met each other for the first time so are looking very nervous while they wait for their coffee!

I like this since the relationship can be interpreted in so many ways. Very interesting postures on both.

I love shots like this - it does look a serious conversation. Happy anniversary

We stopped by chance and took in the COSI in Columbus on our way back from the Creation Museum. They had the Titanic display which we greatly enjoyed!

@skipt07 Both are great places to see. Was pretty impressed with the Creation Museum!

@amandal - I'd like to go back when they are finished with the Ark. Maybe take our youngest granddaughter.
December 30th, 2015
@skipt07 Wonder how the ziplining is? I'll bet the ark will be incredible!

He's telling her about his physics finals, and she wishes she were home watching a chick flick and eating icecream!
