Happy New Year 2016! Welcome back, old friends. Hello and greetings to new 365ers and friends to be.
Four years ago today, I started my 365 journey on a whim. I was not a photographer, had only a point and click camera and a desire to capture a year in my family's life. This began a love for photography that I had no idea existed. Photography has since become my joy, my passion.
Several cameras later, I am still in year 4 and will wrap up in February. I became more lax in posting every day after year one. I'm consistent, but take off for vacations and such. I like the freedom that I have making the project my own. This is your project, your rules. Don't stress about it...just have fun, because that's what something like this should be all about.
My goals for the year are to master Manual mode. I don't shoot in auto and haven't for quite some time, but I still have much to learn about settings. I also intend to make each of my 3 children a photobook of their life and a wall in our hall that is dedicated to family photos. I need to finally do something with my work. I also hope to get my groove back with working out which got derailed with a new gym and the holidays.
This reminds me of a portion of this verse: Isaiah 61:3 New International Version (NIV)
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.
May I be one of these even despite my small stature.
Wishing you a good start to your journey today whether it be a new project to you or even just the new year of life. May it be a blessed one and an adventure.
2016 is looking mighty fine so far. Have a great day!
Gorgeous shot Amanda. Such a fantastic commentary. You are inspiring to me, and I love your pov. Best wishes to you and your family for a fabulous 2016!
Such a beautiful image. The reflection and tones are wonderful. I shoot a lot in auto for several reasons. I have arthritis in my fingers and it is difficult sometimes for me to set the settings...and also I do so much spontaneous shooting (drive by, windshield, etc.) that it is easier to do in auto. I have tried expanding more in manual but it is awkward and sometimes painful. Your photography is always exceptional. It has been a pleasure following you!
