Funny thing happened when at this old mostly abandoned mall the other day. We were pursued by a mall cop on a Segway (seriously) and I was told that I could not take photos in the mall. It was mall policy.
Funnier bit is that while we were being chased, I was trying to take a photo of the ensuing mall cop (come on, he was on a Segway just like Paul Blart).
"Don't do that." he said.
Perhaps I would have got away with it had I been shooting with a phone rather than my dslr.
We spoke to management to confirm what the guy was telling us and were told that we could get special permission if we contact him ahead of time and talk to him about what we will be shooting. All very strange.
Anyway, being inside an nearly empty and vacant mall was pretty surreal and cool. It was a nice time.
I got home, though and was sick ever since. I've spent so much time in bed this weekend, I worried I'd develop bed sores. Feeling much improved today, thankfully!
Wow! Your gazebo has changed! I've never heard of a policy like that before in a mall. Malls are dying here, and it doesn't seem like policies like this would help that situation very much.
Amazing to see a Mall so quiet, ours are so busy. I was stopped last year on holiday in Australia and told I could not take pictures unless I had previous permission, (hard to do when you don't really know what you are going to see). Pictures you got great though, will we see the Mall-cop on the segway? Hope you feel better soon.
It's so crazy with the no photos policy - as you say with phones these days.
Apparently its the same in the Uk too but as yet I haven't been told no photos around my local mall but my daughters friend has.
What a strange policy and a cop on a segway! I think I'd have been trying to shoot him too. Great structure but I think I prefer your usual taste in gazebos ;) xx
I want to see the pic of the policeman. Haha.....hilarious story.
I've been told off too in certain places, which I think is crazy, just because we have 'proper' cameras. Other people take photos constantly with their phones, so what's the difference.....I don't get it. Oh well....
Obviously the mall is so tastefully decorated they don't want people copying it! NOT! Glad you saw the funny side of it and hope you're feeling better.
