The cool thing about this is that we are reading the same book at the same time.
For Easter, he got the book, The Maze Runner. He read it, liked it and loaned it to me. After I quickly finished it, we HAD to read the next in the series. Such a cliffhanger ending. So the next day, I went to the library, got each of us a copy of the next, got me the third as I am a fast reader (and they are teen books) and also the DVD of the first movie for us to watch as a date.
So fun to be able to enjoy things with my kids. So nice to lay around and read with him. We keep checking in...What page are you on now?
Great image, and the books too! I agree with @rachelwithey about the recommendations. My son and I are reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, which has to do with photos and will be a movie soon.
That is so lovely, to share a book. I used to do that with my oldest, although he would read the book first, and me second. Special times. He now likes his ipad better :(
Boys are awesome. Great story. I remember those days. I remember reading out loud to them the book "Holes" (before the movie came out), and they NEVER wanted me to stop! Sweet memories you reminded me of and great way to connect
@bill_fe Just because I am the size of a 5th grader? He will surpass me soon in height. Once while visiting my fourth grader for lunch, my momwaljed by and saw me and thought, who is that big kid. Here it was me!! Her adult kid.
That is so cool! Not only that you are spending that time with him in such a different and fun way, but also that you have time to read books and take/edit all the photos that you do. I really wish I had time to read. I'll have to see if my son has read that book, he's always looking for new book ideas. Has your son tried the Pendragon series? It's my son's favourite series that he's read so far...
@kiwichick No, we haven't read those. How old is your son? Mine is 11. I keep wondering, hoping that this series isn't too mature. It's a teen series. There has been some kissing and inner stirrings, but that's it so far. I love love love to read. I do it every night before bed. Get in and that is how I wind down.
That's great that you make the time. I guess it doesn't help that I'm a slow reader :( I really do love it. My son's just turned 10 and he's such a big bookworm. He reads above his age though, and sometimes I have no idea what is in the books he reads. The Pendragon series has 10 books and is by D. J. MacHale. I'm trying to think of more series he's loved but I can't. He's read lots of Gordon Korman and Rick Riordan books, the Charlie Bone series, 39 clues... to name a few.
