In the responses to yesterday’s post, I talked about lockdown. Melbourne is in lockdown but we are in a much more fortunate situation than many other parts of the world. I decided that for the next few days I would post some portraits I did in India about 4 years ago, in recognition of the struggle India is having with COVID19.
This photo is of a daughter bathing her mother for river purification in the Kaveri River (or in its anglicised form Cauvery River) at Trichy in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The people of India were so welcoming. Many people from India have made their home in Australia and have relatives and friends there. My thoughts are with them in these difficult COVID times.
For the next couple of days, I am going to post some pics of my 'People of India' photo essay I prepared on my return from India four years ago. At that time, life intervened and I filed the essay away and did not do anything with it. This project has inspired me to go back and look at it.
