Part of a group of statues in Collins St Melbourne, once the busiest area of commerce in colonial Australia. The group is called 'The Reuniting Family' by sculptor Michael Meszaros, 2008.
Set in the 1950s, it honours the blue-collar, Italian migrants—over 400,000—who came to Australia after WW2. Often the men came first, and families were separated, sometimes for several years.
