Reuniting by ankers70

Reuniting

Part of a group of statues in Collins St Melbourne, once the busiest area of commerce in colonial Australia. The group is called 'The Reuniting Family' by sculptor Michael Meszaros, 2008.

Set in the 1950s, it honours the blue-collar, Italian migrants—over 400,000—who came to Australia after WW2. Often the men came first, and families were separated, sometimes for several years.
Nice capture & very interesting narrative and history.

Indeed it is. And there are so many people here who have come from all over the world. We used to be more welcoming than we are at the moment! @kork

Thankyou Nina. Some of the diaspora stories are so interesting. It often seems from your posts that there are many similarities between our parts of the world. @ninaganci
