Between Bala and Llan Ffestiniog, Gogledd Cymru (North Wales). I am Australian, with a part Welsh background and these Welsh landscapes pull at my heart in the way Australian landscapes also do. I think it is partly years of growing up with a Welsh grandmother and a Welsh mother but maybe also something in the genes. Or maybe it's 'hiraeth'.
I know what you mean the countryside draws you. I have visited Australia several times and it's red earth areas look so different, I would have loved to have seen it in the flower season when apparently the wild flowers are magnificent. Yet still a little homesick for Wales. as the saying goes it is so nice to go travelling but oh so nice to go home.
One of the things I love about travel is these kinds of reflections on what home, home landscapes and place mean to all of us. And how different places affect us and draw us.
@ankers70 Suzanne, sorry for the delay in replying, I am just trying to catch up, I have been busy with friends/family etc. with regard to your question, We are about 10 minutes out of Conwy, North Wales. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Wales. I also noticed that you did the Bingley Five Rise Locks, as well as the viaduct, quite the experience- we were there in March - we moved on the day before their 250th anniversary Celebrations.

Where in North Wales are you?
@ziggy77
I always love visiting Wales. I have family in Ffestiniog so it's always special for that reason, apart from the beauty.
I loved the Canal walk from Bingley to Saltaire.
