Barangaroo Sandstone Reserve, Sydney by ankers70

Barangaroo Sandstone Reserve, Sydney

This area of Sydney has recently been reimagined from what was an area of disused container terminals. The area now features a sandstone reserve created from more than 10,000 blocks of sandstone, with roughly 90% of them cut from an on-site extraction pit. The way the different sized blocks were positioned was based on a 12D computer modelling program.

It is a visually interesting harbourside area, hard to capture in a photograph. I do, though, quite like the diagonal line between the two people in the foreground and the seagull, echoed in the railing behind them and the curve of the foreshore.
Lovely

Did they place them here for storage or to beautify the waterfront?

They're now positioned to beautify and to echo the sandstone substrate on which Sydney is built andwhich is used in many of the buildings. @skipt07
