We were ready to walk from there to Dead Horse Gap but paused to watch other walkers and mountain bike riders arrive. The yellow hooks on the backs of the chairs are for bikes. From this point the bike riders take off for the hair-raising bike ride back down to Thredbo. Not very clear in the photo but there is one rider poised at the 'Check your brakes here' stop ready to ride. Some of the riders were as young as seven and eight.
The walkers go up from here to climb to the summit of Mt Kosciusko (6km), Rawson's Pass (4.5km), Dead Horse Gap (4.0km) or walk the round trip back down to Thredbo Village.
