Tebbutt Observatory, Windsor by annied

Tebbutt Observatory, Windsor

I am continuing on with some history of Windsor N.S.W this week.
John Tebbutt marked out the stars painted on the beautiful dome of the apse in yesterdays image.

The Observatory buildings are open to the public, restored by the great grandson of astronomer John Tebbutt II. Tebbutt discovered two comets from these observatories and had a crater on the moon named after him. One of Australia’s greatest pioneers in astronomy, John Tebbutt, graced our first $100 note. Tebbutt’s invaluable contribution and utmost dedication to astronomical knowledge earned him worldwide recognition, and earned his place in Australian history.
