7921 AMERICAN DIESEL SHUNTER
During 1943 the Australian Government approached the United States Army to provide Diesel Engines under a Lend Lease agreement to serve at the St.Marys, New South Wales, Munitions Factory. Four #79 Class General Electric, 44 Ton 'Switcher' locomotives were provided, two of which ultimately served at Sydney's Central Station for some time.
