The Currowan fire swept through the village of Wingello in the Southern Highlands late on January 4th 2020. Residents evacuated not expecting to see their properties again. The inferno burned down nearly a dozen houses, sheds, cars, everything in its path but thanks to the Wingello Fire Brigade the Wingello Village Store (circa 1883) was saved as was the owners’ family home. Since the Village began over 130 years ago, the Village Store served the community with groceries and basic supplies. 100 years ago the Post Office was established in the store and it still provides full Post Office service.
Like this, I guess its the 'simply good food' sign but to me it has a welcoming feel. Very glad that not all was ravaged in that horrible fire earlier this year.
