I have been away for a while trying to tie up some other projects I started at home but came back today with two paintings.I am not happy placing this next to the perfection of Monika and Vikki but I am happy with the results after following the suggestions of those two as to how to paint this one. Thanks Ladies
Oh! This is so great!!!! I'm so happy you tried it. I love how it turned out. You really did get the so feared transparency!
As for the watercolours: i started with acrylics because they can be easily controlled. Watercolours have a will. And they forced me to just let go and let them have it their own way. Just relax and enjoy whatever comes out, as @annied said. The colors and the paper should be a safety valve: let the pressure go. (Last time i checked, killing people was still illegal, but painting is not). @grammyn
@grammyn this is so pretty. I really like the individuality of each of the renditions. One thing to remember is that no one is comparing your picture to the original photo nor to someone else's version. As long as the subject is recognizable and in proportion then you have nailed it.
@annied good advice, Annie @summerfield thank you so much! I tried to learn from the comments made about your picture and Monika‘s. I have only been using water color since I started with the artsy gang but I used to use oils @ludwigsdiana that is really very nice of you to say Diana. I think this subject we were given to paint is what gives it the Asian flair. @monikozi thanks as always for your positive support. It means a lot to me that you take the time to tell me what you see. @salza that really means a lot Sally. Because we are all doing the same thing I tend to forget not to compare myself to others. Thanks for that reminder. @kjarn thank you so much Kathy. The subject was somebody else’s idea I just tried to paint it. @30pics4jackiesdiamond LOL! I’m impressed that you can see a happy vibe! I’m also impressed that you like it. Thank you @wakelys I read lots of good advice from Monika @monikozi and used her painting as inspiration. I am sure yours would be excellent. I certainly hope you give it a go.
i thought you always used watercolour.
i ruined my umbrella painting so i would need to do another one, which in a way is good as i'd be forced to apply what i learned today from this.
