Once the good weather came I started spending more time outside doing yard work and less time painting. Add a wedding, a graduation and several birthdays and my life is consumed with social obligations it seems. Today l sat down to work on something that others did months ago but I am glad to have spent the time on it. Not my best as I am still trying to learn shading but I am basically pleased with it! I welcome suggestiong!
@grammyn I like it too! Is it in watercolour? I really like how it turned out. I like it how the flowers come up against the background. i just love the vertical strokes visible across the diagonal background. It gives an interesting movement effect. And I love it how the grasses are bunched in a wild bouquet. I see it as a very dynamic bouquet. (is there such a thing?)
But those red flowers are stunning. They look like poppies to me and i do have a soft spot for poppies.
On a funnier side, just like me, you should hire a photographer to photograph your work :D
As for the time for painting: I not only spent more time in the garden, but as a heat wave hit our area, I'd rather sit still in a shady corner, with a book or with work for my job (which, as always is always getting in the way, but it does pay the f*cking bills). I long for drawing and painting. And the time will come for it as well. (in the meantime, the library is now again allowing the public to go through the shelves and pick the books themselves, and I got a couple so good, and I had to read before artsy activities, because I have to return the books - and get others.... and there we go... )
@grammyn I like that you have minimised the amount of flowers . I remember getting carried away with mine therefore making more mistakes. Good that you eventually found some time.
@summerfield it took me a very long time to get around to this. You, on the other hand have been consistently painting. @casablanca that is really very nice to say and I do appreciate your understanding! @wakelys I just went back and looked at yours and have to disagree with you. I don’t think you used too many flowers at all and I didn’t see any mistakes. Thanks for the positive support Sue!
@monikozi this is watercolor which is why I struggle with shading so much. For some reason blending with oils is so much easier for me. I really value you insight and comments. You have a wonderful way of seeing details that I often overlook. I have to agree with you about the need for a photographer! I noticed how poor the photo was and hoped no one would notice. I should have known you would. LOL! Thank you for taking the time to be supportive.
