Coffee and Donut

I debated whether or not to post this little picture. There are a few things that I'm not happy with and I've decided that I need to spend some time honing my skills. Doing a painting once every two to three weeks is not going to help me improve.

Love your use of colours and it really helps to do a little painting every day.
You could have used some bubbles at the inside of the cup and a bit more shadow at the inside of your donor and cup…

@salza As someone who has very limited skills I feel like this is a fabulous painting. I’m not sure I could’ve done nearly as well. Keep up the good work. I feel like that practice even less than you

@salza First of all: the colour of that cup!!!!!!! Not that I am turquoise addicted... but I am... :D The nuances you have got there are simply stunning. The highlights are stunning. They give such a lively feel to it all. The donut does look a bit strange, but I can not vow that it was not like that in the box. How could I?
As for the practice, yes, it is a fact: practice improves any skill (drawing, painting, driving, jogging, cooking, you name it). These are all skills that improve with practice. Not with time - because time can pass without any practice :D And we were not born knowing how to draw/paint/ride the bike (you get it...)
The thing is that a less than perfect result (painting / run / drawing / meal) is much more valuable in the learning process than a good one, provided you analyse the result and try to figure out what went wrong. That is why we should cherish any wonky result over a good one.
So, keep up the good work. You are on the right track.

At some point, I had my own enterprise, while also being employed. And my time for the enterprise was limited. And back then I realised that I was getting out of the enterprise (money, satisfaction a.s.o.) on a balance with how much I invested in it. For one or two hours per day, the return was the fair equivalent, as I did things with passion. Had I not been employed full time, and had I dedicated 8 hours per day, I would have earned a living from the enterprise. It is all a give-and-take equation.

You're being too hard on yourself!! This is lovely, especially the light on the mug and drink
