I was looking out at the backyard from a kitchen window this morning with my 300mm lens and Nikon on the counter. I suddenly saw a lovely wild rabbit appear around the barn. T and I had seen two by the driveway last evening, the first spring sighting. The rabbit was busy munching and then stopped with ears at alert. Down from the woods came a gray squirrel headed for more peanuts on the back step. The squirrel got closer and the rabbit leaped at him and then stood boldly on hind legs ready to rumble. The squirrel was terrified, but calmed down and approached the rabbit who was back thinking about tasty green things again. They got very close, almost nose to nose until the winner was declared in a hop. See the extras for the sequence.
