We had a New England 'boiled dinner', corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots at my brother and sister in law's house late this afternoon. Donna braised the corn beef first then boiled it with Guinness and garlic, onion, bay leaves and other spices then cooked the veggies in the oven, it was not boiled to death like some, and absolutely delicious. Nora had some veggies, Irish bread soda made by Donna and entertained us all.
I'm having my second cataract surgery tomorrow morning, we have to be at Massachusetts Eye & Ear in Boston by 7. The surgery is quicker that the prep, I expect to be home before 11. I know it will go well, I like my surgeon but I am a bit nervous. I probably won't sleep well and I expect I'll have to get up around 4:30.
