We held another successful Antiques Appraisal event today. It was just as much fun as the one we held last April and added some cash to our club treasury.
I had the Garwood's Lavender Smelling Salts Bottle appraised for the fun of it. My grandmother Nora graduated from Washington Academy in East Machias, Maine in 1911. Her graduating class had a trip to Washington D.C. via steamship and railroad travel. It was a long trip and she must have been a bit nervous as she purchased this lovely bottle with a beautiful blue glass stopper filled with smelling salts at North Station in Boston. The appraiser said it's worth about $50 to a collector. I can't believe it's survived for so many years.
