@malc Yes ,I have quite a little brood here ,I must try to keep them thriving as the numbers are declining in the UK @ch1ppy_m1nton I agree with you there -I tolerate two pigeons that come regularly --but they are gluttonous and trample on everything --as long as they do not bring any of their friends here I can put up with the two !! @happypat Thank you Pat --please note I need to do a collection before the winter to buy a new bird table !!! lol !
I love young sparrows, they are so sweet and they get bullied by the big stuff (woodpigeons, I'm looking at you!), so it's lovely to see them helping themselves like this. I have a ground feeder just for them (and the odd robin), which is inside a cage - only small birds can squeeze through the bars and the pigeons just walk round and round it, unable to get in. Beautiful shot, Beryl and I'll happily contribute to your new bird table fund!
@sturnus Thanks Carol i had thought of cutting down on their summer feeds to save for the new table & perhaps I could go on a diet too !! lol !
No point in me having a ground feeder as I have another pest who would eat the bird food at ground level Alfie is like a hoover , vacs any bird seeds I may drop on the patio !!
@sturnus Waw ! I have never seen anything like this --at first I thought it was an upturned hanging basket !then I saw the seller !! What a good idea !
We have so few sparrows around here yet when I was young they seemed the most common bird in our garden. We get invaded by magpies, pigeons and jays mostly so Carol's @sturnus ground feeder looks a super idea. Keep out the pesky squirrels too. Lovely shot of the sparrows with the splashes of pink.
@paul2782 You are so kind in your comments Paul and obviously you have an artistic eye ! This was taken through the Kitchen window , the sun was glaring ,and as you say the main subject were mono tonal with the bird table --so things could be better !!! There's always a next time !!
