This is a delightful little shop in the centre of Wellington ( Shrops ) It holds shelf upon shelf of old fashioned sweet jars with the most wonderful sweets from the past and present . But what intrigues me about this building is a door on 1st floor level !! who uses this ?? Must be a health and safety issue here !! lol :-)
This photo is my representation of the word for the day "Door "
Lovely colourful shop Beryl. I have seen these doors half way up before & I will bet it was once a grain store or seed merchants. The door will be so they could load wagons with the sacks of grain.
Great shot...very charming . The sweets sound ..well, sweet!! What about that door on the 2nd floor...who would use that one? Yikes!....Oh! I just read the comments above! Yeah, Americans!! 1st floor is actually the 2nd floor and ...oh well I I get it now..hahahha!
Lol.. great find... love that door... I used to tell the kids that they tie boats up on doors like that so when the flood waters come they can get out! =P
Love your shot! Perhaps there was a fire escape leading off that upper door but they might now have access from round the back. It does look like an old building though so I think that it was for loading carts with sacks from the upstairs.
I think Pat could be right. Either that or they are expecting a lot of snow. @happypat Nice shot. It looks a lot like the shop my Mum had when we were small in the UK. I used to love looking at the sweets in jars. Takes me back.
Like Jan and Corrie 'we' are dieting in this house too so this is a bit like torture! I just love all the old sweets so this is one of my favourite types of shop. @jantan@genesis_one
