Purple pompoms ! by beryl

Purple pompoms !

This tall plant was grown from a root cutting taken from my home in Wales before I sold the property after my parents passed away . They loved their garden and had all sort of plants growing in their cottage garden !
I do not know what it is called but to me seems to be a plant in the same family as the Aqueilegia -- it has the same stem structure , same leaf formation and shade of green and flowers at the same time of the year -- can any one help me with the name ?
Oh what a beautiful plant. the flowers are amazing. What a beautiful keepsake from your previous home. I would have loved some of the plants from my Mum's garden after she passed away, but not possible to transport them over to Australia. could have got in all sorts of trouble.

It is Thalictrum, (Meadow Rue) and there are lemon and white varieties too. Lovely capture.
I loved it in our old garden as the flowers stood so well for quite a while even through rainstorms. I was always surprised and a little disappointed that it did not seed and spread for us.

p.s. It was among "Wild Flowers " in Botanical Garden of Canada, Ontario" but I have never heard of it in wild over here.

@barneyone Thank you Rita -- I had no idea as my late father had a clump from a farmer friend who delighted in finding unusual plantsand sending away for them , and grew them in a wild / garden area --I remember the bantam hens and ducks used to roam around in this area !!

Love the fluffy pale mauve flowers and the leaves do remind me of aquilegia. Glad you have its identity now.
