Grandfather's clock .

We have had a beautiful evening with our friends-- a lovely evening meal and welcoming in the New Year We used to live next door to one another and became firm friends . Every year for the past 45 years we have celebrated the New Year together , and by now it has become a tradition .

The Grandfather clock has been in my family since the mid 1800s and the polishing of many generations has rendered the oak into a beautiful mellow sheen .
