This is the entrance to the gardens , but my heart has not been in things today . I received the most devastating news this morning when my cousin (in-law ) telephoned me , to tell me that her son,(Gary's second cousin) had suddenly died . Christian was a chef at Portmeirion Hotel N Wales and on Saturday he went to work on his bike but was found dead before reaching his destination . The police recon he had a heart attack . the post mortrm result is tomorrow ! He was 38 and leaves a young wife and two little children , life is so cruel . Sorry I shall not be commenting tonight my thoughts are with the bewildered family !
Oh dear Beryl , I'm so sorry to hear that, you must all be shell shocked. Bad enough when anyone dies but a young family man like that just terrible. My heart goes out to his family & you who will mourn him. Sudden death is very cruel.

Thank you all so much for your kind words at this sad time I was devastated when I received the news yesterday and still in shock .I am so grateful that I have such friends in 365 to be able to share my grief and for your caring support -- thank you all.. I only visited the family when we were up in Porthmadog in June . Erica and Christian were so devoted to one another and to the two little ones - such a happy little family , now their world is shattered .
I'm so, so sorry Beryl. I heard this on the news - it caught my attention because I'm quite familiar with that part of Wales and we go to Portmeirion often. We've stayed and eaten at the hotel. I shall spare a thought for you and Christian's family whenever I go. This is such very sad news and my heart goes out to you and his poor young wife and children. As you say, life is cruel. Whoever would have thought when I heard it on the news that I would have a connection.
Your picture of Bridgemere Gardens brought back happy memories. I haven't been there for years.
Do take care of yourself Beryl. I'm thinking of you.
@susiemc Thanks so much Sue , I still feel numb today , and the family must be in pieces and still waiting for the results of the post mortem , I went out to Bridgemere yesterday but my heart was not in it -- I only looked at the gardens from the entrance - the paths were gravelled and not buggy friendly and my heart was not in it - it took some effort to get my little camera out to take this one shot . Thanks Sue for your kind words
So sorry to read your shocking news Beryl, it is always sad to hear of a sudden death but of one so young who is leaving behind a young family too it is so tragic. My thoughts are with you. Pretty shot.
@thistle@carolmw@lhart Thanks Joyce, Carol and Lynne -- yes it was a massive shock and I feel for that small family without a dad I have been useless today -I couldn't seem to concentrate on much Thank you my 365 friends
Oh dear, yes Mark was working that day and when he came back home he told me the story. I had goosebumps and could so imagine how devastating this is for his young family! I hope he wasn't in too much pain when he left this world. My thoughts are with you!
@overalvandaan Thank you so much Saxa -It is so difficult to comprehend or understand ! We popped in to visit the little family when we were up in Port in June but Christian was at work that day . -- but what a happy little family !
What a terrible shock for all concerned.
Sending my sympathy to all of them.
