These are the towers of the Buildwas Power Station, Ironbridge . which has now closed down and the workmen are there to dismantle the whole site ! The power station was built in the mid '60s and at that time my late husband was working for the Civil Engineering firm that built the site - so in a way I feel quite attached to the huge towers and shall miss them from the landscape .
I can understand how you would have a sense of attachment to these towers, the demolishing of them is a removal of a physical reminder. I'm sure though that unlike your memories these towers will be forgotten about in time.
When I see nuclear power plant towers I think of our disastrous Love Canal meltdown. I'm so glad they have found better power solutions for us all. It is a shame there is not a way to re-purpose the towers for another use, though.
