I am absolutely delighted as a huge fir tree was felled from the corner of my neighbour' garden yesterday . This huge tree had overshadowed my garden from the morning sun . In the coming weeks the other trees ( to the left of the photo ) will be removed making it so much better for my garden . ( this is mainly for my diary of events )
Beautiful shot and sunny day. Glad your neighbours are cutting down the trees. In my small front garden I have the same problem. My neighbour has a hibiscus which has grown up to one and a half storey and is completely cutting off the sun from the west. And besides, I have to regularly prune it because it comes over the dividing wall and onto my side.
@mave I agree wholly with you I was born in a rural area where trees grew in their natural habitat and not squeezed onto a small back garden ! ( must get off my hobby horse -- hee hee !! )
Someone nearby to me have removed their enourmous leylandi trees and now I can see the sunset once again. Your garden looks lovely Bery it will be nice to get back the light where you sit .
A day to enjoy, we too have a row of confers doing the same to our back garden, we have been overshadowed for 20 years but at least they are the shortest they have ever been at around 15 feet, when we first moved here they were well over 20ft tall!
Trees are either a nuisance or a pleasure! They can keep out so much light! Harry & I are not agreeing about six Leylandi trees he planted six months ago. The neighbour right at the end of the lane gave them to him so he's planted them at the top of our back garden bit so it gives privacy to the new neighbours in the barn. They might like them & agree but I hate them. He says they make a brilliant hedge & I do agree but they can get out of hand, I know he won't let them get too high but whose to say what will happen if he or others can't keep them trimmed?
@happypat But Pat yours isn't a town garden - I know not small by today's standards , . The trouble with Laylandii is they grow so quickly and next doors trees had got out of hand by the previous owners and I am not joking when I say they were as tall as the eves of the houses , the one in the corner even taller . not only they did they shade the gardens but the roots drained the soil and the roots grew so much each year that I couldn't grow veg in my little plot . Moan over -- I should be rejoicing now !!
Your garden looks beautiful.
