Been waiting all day for two deliveries - had ordered a new vacuum cleaner - my old one had just packed in on me . and a baking tin for my Christmas cake . I had thrown out the old Christmas cake tin last year and had used a smaller tin , which I was not happy with , as the cake was very deep without a great circumference . I had always made my Christmas Cake when we had our school half term hols -- a tradition I have continued with ! So a couple of days ago I prepared all the ingredient , putting the fruit and nuts to soak overnight in the rum and orange and lemon juice , before I realised I had no tin ( I always bake my Christmas Cake in a square tin ( so much easier to cut ,without making a mess of the cake !) So yesterday I went on line , ordered the tin with next day delivery ! and it arrived this afternoon . Prepped the tin , and made the cake and now it is in the oven . Good deed done !! No time or inclination in taking a new photo today so used an older photo and enjoyed a few minutes faffing ! Hope you like it ! -- quite Autumnal in colour !
You Choisia looks lovely in its glowing Autumn colours great faffing after your busy day. Online is great when you are in a pickle and a good service too.
Good job done then Beryl….I bet your house smells quite Christmassy! I call that organisation! I always used a square tin too…..easy cutting as you say. I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t made a Christmas cake for years. Our DIL mum started making ours years ago, she was a baker by profession & it was her present to us. Sadly she can no longer bake& now there is only two of us plus I don’t like Christmas cake….. Harry gets a small M&;S one which he eats all himself!
Nice faffing.
You are on the ball with your Christmas cake.
@happypat I haven't made a Christmas cake since the kids left home. Like you I am not keen on Christmas cake and if I made one David, like Harry, would eat the lot himself.
Lovely autumn colours and so cheerful! (Wow! Congrats on getting your Christmas cake baked under these challenging circumstances. And you even had time and energy to post this pic! :)
