Mary and I met at the Mytton and Mermaid for lunch yesterday - and delicious it was too !! We sat by the window ( and radiator ! ) although there was a big log fire alight in the latge open fireplace at the end of the room !The Mytton and Mermaid is a grade11 listed building ,built in 1735and once was owned by Cloug Williams-Ellis as a staging post on the way to his Italian Village -Portmeirion in N Wales . The hotel is partly named after a local eccentric called John(Mad Jack ) Mytton . Not only is the name after this character but also the home of his ghost which is reported to appear each year on September 30th ( Mad Jacks birthday ) !! No ghosts yesterday but the lovely company of my friend !
@happypat- From month to month we tend to find different venues ,- this is one of the four we tend to visit ! - the M&M is a great venue in the summer months as you can eat al fresco - on the front lawn or on the river side terrace , the hotel is on the edge of the Atcham bridge and the river Severn - ( VERY CIVILIZED !) Mart and her daughter and son in law - dines here sometimes on Sundays !
