Day 327 - Ightham Mote (pronounced "item moat"), is a Grade 1 listed medieval moated manor house situated in Ightham, Kent and is now owned by the National Trust. Originally dated to around 1320, the building has most of its original features and has had relatively few changes to the main structure, after the completion of the inner quadrangle with a new chapel in the 16th century. Unlike most courtyard houses of its type that looks outward, Ightham wholly surrounds its courtyard and looks inwards into it, offering little information externally to it's inner beauty. The house is surrounded on all sides by a square moat and can be accessed by crossing one of the three bridges.
@beckyk365@ludwigsdiana@gemmabrowne Thank you for your comments. It was only by chance that we found it whilst looking for something to do, I want to go back in the summer as not all the rooms are open in the winter.
@quietpurplehaze Thank you for your comment, I found them all so fascinating they all had different shapes and features. I can't wait to go back next year. 😃
