Shorne Woods Country Park

Day 311 - We travelled somewhere we've not been before even though it's only 30 minutes up the road!

Shorne Woods was once part of the medieval Cobham Hall Estate and many historical artefacts have been found on the site of the old manor. The area was used for clay extraction for the local cement industry from the 1920s to the 1970s and was also used as an army camp during World War II.

Kent County Council bought Shorne Wood in 1982 and opened the site as a country park in 1987, they then purchased Randall Woods and Brewers Woods in 2001 and an additional 3 hectares of Brewers Wood in 2013. The park has many walking routes and KCC has also installed wheelchair/pram access paths/walks.
Lovely images. Looks like an interesting place to go for a walk.
