Tourist Trap? by bjywamer

Tourist Trap?

Local Wonders challenge for today was to take a photo of a "tourist trap". During the summertime this historical site is open for tourists to come pan for gold (for a price, of course!). I think nearly everyone comes away with a small nugget, which they may then have turned into a piece of jewelry (again, for a price) on location. I confess that I have never been there myself nor have I ever taken any of our out-of-state visitors there in all the years we have lived here. I am thinking I may have to give way next year and try it out! :-) A note of potential additional interest re: this photo is that a portion of the famous Alaska Oil Pipeline (800 miles long...some above ground and some underground) is seen in the background at the top of the photo.
A perfect toursit trap, both to find a nugget then to get it set as jewelry!
