The 104 Street Promenade in the heart of downtown Edmonton is made up of buildings that once comprised the warehouse district in the city. Thankfully these buildings which date back to about 1910-1915 have been preserved.
Today they are used for condos, restaurants and a variety of shops. It is also the location on Saturday's from May to September for the City Market, a large outdoor farmer's market which is the oldest continual farmer's market in Edmonton going back to the early 1900's
Love the perspective. One of the first things I noticed was how neat and clean things looked and I see that I am not the only one that noticed that. Great shot, workds well in black and white.
Nice historical district and interesting that all your old warehouses are now flats and housing too . Do they abut on to water too? The perspective and black and white capture them well. And cool that you've managed to keep your farmers' market continuously - we've got recently established farmers' markets because the markets we have still going (here it's been going since 1253) have very little to do with farmers now.
It's great when cities restore and update historical areas. They keep the flavor of the original district but find new ways to use the beautiful buildings rather than let them decay and go to waste. It looks like these old buildings are enjoying their new life.
