Slated for demolition

On my way in to work today I made a quick stop to take a picture of this house. It is on the historic registries B list. This means that the owners can receive funding for renovations but it is not protected from being torn down.
This one has been empty for a while now and is now slated for demolition. I always find it sad when older homes can not find a new owner and a new lease on life
It looks like a beautiful house, I hope they get funding for renovations.

How sad...no doubt it would have been quite expensive, even with funding, to bring it up to code.
June 4th, 2013
Very nice shot. I agree, it is sad to see an older building torn down.
June 4th, 2013
Lovely
June 4th, 2013
Had no idea there was a backup list. Definitely sad.
June 4th, 2013
Looks like it was a nice house at one time.
June 4th, 2013
Its a brick house and so should be strong. It does look unloved and maybe if someone tidied it up and then put it on the market, it would sell!
June 4th, 2013
That is sad, Brian! What a charming house.
June 4th, 2013
Very charming old find..I am sure it is full of stories too. Too bad they have to demo it! Nice capture!
June 4th, 2013
Nice capture. I know it would have a lot of stories to tell if iy could talk.
June 4th, 2013
It is sad, since they often have so much character, but just need work. Nice shot.
June 4th, 2013
always hate to see these old historic homes (and other buildings) that have such architecture and history torn down. I hope someone will save this one. If it's torn down what will go into its place? More condos or apartments, huh!!?
June 4th, 2013
that is just sad. every time i see something like this, it really makes me wish i'd win the lottery so i can buy it and have it restored. i hope someone saves it.
June 4th, 2013
Oh that is sad...looks like it could be loved again!! We only have a couple of stately homes left in our area. Great capture of it!
June 4th, 2013
Nice photo of an old home with lots of character and charm. I wish it could be saved!
June 4th, 2013
Lovely old home. Wish someone had wanted to renovate it. It would have been charming.
June 4th, 2013
That is too bad- this house is quaint and has some lovely gingerbread on the eaves there.
June 4th, 2013
It is really sad to see something so comforting being torn down.

June 4th, 2013
Maybe your photo will soon be all there is to remember this lovely building, very sad.
June 4th, 2013
Lovely house - sad it has to be pulled down
June 4th, 2013
Far to pretty to be torn down
June 4th, 2013
I agree, it's such a shame to pull down a building, especially one like this where you can see that it could be a wonderful family home xx
June 4th, 2013
Oh dear what a great shame no one wants it...looks rather beautiful with character.....it won't be worth anything pulled down or will the owner sell the land for development perhaps?
June 4th, 2013
Sad to see such a nice house being neglected - if only someone would show it some TLC!

@aglennc That is the sad side of it. I know condos are important but why tear something like this down to build something new
June 5th, 2013
@bkbinthecity I agree! And they'll also tear out all the beautiful old trees too. Wish builders would leave some of the full grown trees on property when they build..... They add so much character and charm..... as well as shade.
June 5th, 2013
@summerfield You and me both Vikki
June 5th, 2013
