Well this is another of my older shots that I never posted before. I am really glad though that I took this picture because this neon sign is no longer there. This is Don Wheaton Chev Olds dealership on Whyte Avenue. It was a very well known landmark here in Edmonton for many years. Last year they decided to do some renovations on the building and this part was completely redone and the section where the neon sign sat was replaced and now has just a plain façade.
VEry glad you did this now you hold some history of the building. Here in Lincoln we have an area called Havelock it used to be a little town, through the years Lincoln grew around it now its part of Lincoln. A sign used to stand as you came into Havelock the city took it down and i never got a photo :-(
Too bad because neon is really retro! Glad you got the sign before it disappeared. Actually you should take this in to the management and let them know they ruined the look of their lot!!
I find this huge red neon sign good advertising. people can see it from far away. so now you have to take a photo of the plain wall replacing it. wonder what that will look like. I also like that you can see the cars in behind the door type windows.
