So as I mentioned yesterday The third floor of the school played a important role for the province of Alberta. Alberta became a province on Sept. 1 1905 and since the Provincial Legislative Building did not open until 1912 the government had to hold its sessions in other places. The first three years it was held here in the school. The top floor was redone to be able to accommodate the members of the Legislature and of course the public and press galleries.
This is a replica of what the main part of the chambers looked like. I trust you all have enjoyed this mini tour of a wonderful historic school and museum
This has been a great tour, thank-you so much! I like this shot--it's a strong reminder of Canada's British connections, with the Union Jack, the ensign, and the predominance of red, white and blue. Very interesting bit of Alberta history.
