So as we were walking along the promenade we saw a couple coming towards us with their dog. I was getting ready to take a picture of the river with the Edmonton Queen docked so I thought why not wait for the dog to come in view. Later as I was looking at this shot it reminded me of an old TV show The Littlest Hobo which was all about a German Shepard dog that would befriend someone and help them out of difficulties they were in.
The German Shepherd that was famous here was Rin Tin Tin. And of course we had Lassie but she was a Collie. Nice shot- the river boat looks like it would be a fun place to visit.
Great composition and I love how you caught that beautiful shepherd strolling by. This is such a heartwarming scene and nice how you likened it to "The Littlest Hobo." FAV!!
I remember that show too - the theme tune
came straight to mind when you mentioned it :) (Nicely composed pic by the way!)
There’s a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road is where I’ll always be
Every stop I make, I’ll make a new friend
Can’t stay for long, just turn around and I’m gone again.
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.

It's from a comic strip by Lee Falk, who also created the Mandrake comic strip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Phantom
