Inspiration Week......E Parking

So today's inspiration comes fro Sgt. Pepper (Alf) @sgtpepper
On feb 16/15 Alf posted a picture for his alphabet P for Payment. When I saw it I was reminded of a picture I had just taken a couple of days prior.
Edmonton is slowly phasing out the old parking meters and going with a new system where you pay at one machine and receive a ticket to place on the dash of your car. The new system here is called E Park. This one is located right in the heart of downtown
Such a practical idea. Many times we've had bills but no coins!

This is an interesting idea. However, how far do you have to walk to deposit your money and then return to your car to put the note in the window? (Hummm... And I see snow!)

Awesome shot

I like how there's a parking sign off in the distance. He works well with the focus on the foreground.

Cool shot--I have not seen these around here
February 19th, 2015
We call them Blink here, we have an electric Fit. We hook it up every night!
February 19th, 2015
I've seen parking lots around here with a system like that but not street parking. I'm sure it won't be far behind though. Good one!

Wonderful picture.

Nice shot. The college town I go to frequently (and just went today) has had the system for almost a year now. It's still hard to get used to. I try to park nearest one of the machines so I don't have to walk too far, put money in, get the ticket, walk back to my car to put it on the dash and then walk to wherever I'm headed. Too much walking hurts. The only thing about these machines is when the ticket doesn't come all the way out you have to dig for it, which is not fun on a freezing day!

Sounds like a great idea! It will be a while before we get something like that! :-)
February 19th, 2015
Wow, that's a system that has been in use in many towns in South Africa for at least 15 to 20 years. Seems strange to think that for you it is a totally new system!
February 19th, 2015
Super shot.

A cool, colorful shot of a new system for payment. Thank you for sharing. Nice POV ...

Till now, parking on the side of the road is free in Malta, and because of that one has to go round and round until he finds a parking space. We are overcrowded with cars and it is no longer a joy to go out for a drive.
February 19th, 2015
Oh well lets hope the machines are reliable, or maybe it's better if they don't work and you don't have to pay!
February 19th, 2015
I like this one.
February 19th, 2015
Awesome capture.
February 19th, 2015
A nice shot to record the change!

Great shot. That is really interesting about E Park. Sounds like a good idea.
February 19th, 2015
We had that system for years, I don't know any better. Now they want to remove lots of them since more and more people are paying with apps on their phone.
February 19th, 2015
Are there other systems than this then?
February 19th, 2015
Parking - always a problem, and expensive!
February 19th, 2015
Really nice focus in this shot - everything is so nice and sharp. Like this idea - hadn't come across it before.
February 20th, 2015
@cejaanderson The nice thing about these is that it takes all forms of payment
February 20th, 2015
@aglennc Yes we do still have snow. From what I can tell one machine covers about one city block
