Today I took in the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Beverly Cenotaph in Edmonton. It was a tremendous ceremony with a huge crowd gathered.
After the ceremony I found it quite interesting that the people there participated in taking the poppies they were wearing off and laying them on the base of the cenotaph
It was quite touching watching both young and old take part in this way of remembering those who have served our country and especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice
Reminds me of the service I attended today here in Toronto, at Queen's Park. Apparently, after the one outside Old City Hall, children were lined up to get veterans' autographs and express their gratitude. Encouraging signs, I think, that our veterans are becoming more highly valued, as they should be.
