Miss Isabelle by bkbinthecity

Miss Isabelle

Made a quick stop yesterday to find out who Isabelle Connelly was. This park just a couple of blocks from my in-laws is named after her. She lived from 1879-1963. She was a pioneer teacher and community worker. She was also the first female licenced embalmer in the province of Alberta.
As well she received the Lateran Cross from Pope Pius XII for her work with the Catholic Women's League of Canada
This brings to mind the old pioneer teachers who rode their horses to work. Perhaps she did not, but I'm sure it was quite a life!
