Day nineteen of my series on Things Canada is Known For. My post today is the Railroad.
The railway has played a huge part in developing Canada into the nation it is today.
The idea of a transcontinental railway began in 1872 with Canada's first prime Minister Sir John A MacDonald. It was completed in 1885.
Today's pictures starting with the top left and going clockwise are
1. Canada 150 train. A special train that made its way across Canada fits 150th birthday.
2. CPR Station in Fort Saskatchewan AB
3. A special memorial honoring the Last Spike at Cragellachie BC Nov. 7 1885
4. CNR Caboose at a railway museum in Fort Langley BC
I love trains, but I've never taken a train in Canada (I've been on subways, LRT, and GoTrains but I mean regular passenger trains like Via)! Great collage; the reflections in your trestle picture are awesome!
