Here is what I saw today when I looked out my bay window to our backyard. Just a few of the regulars today...Blue Jays galore gorging themselves on peanuts in the shell, my little Downy Woodpecker who is also a frequent visitor to the suet feeders, plenty of sparrows and one of my chubby little squirrels who eats more bird food than birds. Don't know where the Cardinals, Chicadees & Nuthatches were today.
What a wonderful sanctuary you have going on in your backyard! If you're serving up peanuts I'm sure you have some happy customers. Love the little chipmunk!
What a wonderful collage!!! I just love the feeling of this...the weather is so cold and yet all the little creatures are out, busily living their lives... You have captured them so clearly and so well!! Love their colors, their bright little eyes, and the fact that they look so chubby and cozy in their feathers and fur!! :)
@lcamanini Thank you! It was so windy he was having a lot of trouble maintaining his balance on the tree and that little crest of his kept blowing forward.
@digitalrn The Blue Jays are definitely the scoundrels around here but today the squirrel was actually showing aggresion towards the Jays when they landed on the ground next to him while he was eating his sunflower seeds. He chased them off every time!
@barrymikhal@bribuccigrossi@maggie2@kaleandkiara@omabluebird@peggysirk@jonna Thanks everyone for your nice comments! They all seemed oblivious to the biting cold & harsh winds today...they just fluffed themselves up and continued eating! :) I just started up the feeding station recently so evidently the word hasn't gotten out yet as I didn't have too many visitors today! We go through a LOT of birdfood every winter once they all figure out there's a smorgasbord at our house! :)
Cute collage for this great collection of pretty creatures. Love the quizzical look on the little bird at bottom right. Lovely view to have out your back window.
@julie@wac@15johnpatrick@timandelke Thanks so much for the feedback...I'm glad you like my little feathered friends. I got hooked on birdfeeding probably 20 years ago...it's gotten to be kind of expensive but I just love watching their antics. They all seem to have their own personalities and sometimes they clash and the drama plays out. Occasionally we get some oddball bird we've never seen before and have to go look it up. I have a birch tree that is right next to my window so it's really easy to get bird shots right through the glass. That's why I posted so many bird pictures lately...baby it's cold outside and they're an easy picture if/when they show up!! :)
@jgoodridge Thanks Jeff, I usually have tons of finches....mainly Goldfinches and House Finches but they've been scarce lately along with the Cardinals. They'll be back soon though....they just can't resist the thistle! :)
@bruni@shaelataylor Thanks so much for your nice comments! Nno doubt about it, I'll be adding more bird shots as winter gets under way....the cold weather attracts them in large numbers so stay tuned for more! :)
