Sorry for the gloomy picture...it goes well with the dreary weather we're having today though. I was actually driving over to the site where the Eagles have been hanging out this week and was shooting pictures along the way. (By the way, there was a single Bald Eagle there this morning). This was literally a drive by shooting....I was driving real slow and shooting out the window without even stopping. It was taken on a very rural road with no traffic so no one was in danger!! :) I really wish I could make the fence disappear but I have no idea how to do that in Photoshop and unfortunately, even if I had gotten out of the car to take the picture there was no getting around the fence as it went completely around the entire cemetary. On the bright side, it's supposed to be in the 30's tomorrow...hopefully with some sun!
It's a beautiful shot. Very peaceful little cemetery nestled under those large, lovely trees. Sounds like a heat wave is heading your way...break out the flip flops. :)
I don't know about gloomy Paula! Maybe 'tranquil' but definitely not gloomy. You've done a lovely job of framing this shot with the tree. Very nice indeed (fence or no fence). Would take way too much word to remove it. This is a great drive-by shot. Well done!
You could have jumped over the fence but the angle wouldn't be the same. I actually like the shot just the way it is...the fence doesn't change how good it looks. I don't even notice it. It's great!
Now Paula you now what you need to do to get rid of the fence! You climb over it and then take photos. ;-) We are to get warmer weather here as well. 30ยบ by Saturday. I like these "gloomy" moody photos. I love misery music by singer songwriters too!
@lynnmwatson@geertje@robinwarner@eileenmabalot@cjwhite@alecio@denisedaly@terryd2011@bethanyjay Thanks so much for all the nice comments on my not-so-cheery photo for the day! Something about it just called to me today to take a quick picture of it as I drove by it. I usually take a lot of pictures each day of random stuff that I never really intend to use, on here anyway, but it became obvious as the day went on there just wasn't going to be anymore pictures so I started messing with it and decided to use it.
@peggysirk Thanks Peggy for always leaving such nice feedback, I always enjoy your comments and I might just break out those flip flops tomorrow because 35 degrees sounds downright balmy me to me! I can hardly wait!
@ellida Thank you Graham....I'm playing catch up on my commenting and besides your photos are always such a pleasure to view except for the fact I have an overwhelming desire to travel whenever I look them over! :)
@kezzam Thanks Kerry, I appreciate your feedback. I really need to read all my Photoshop books so I can figure out what's possible and what isn't because there are definitely times when some oddball object is too distracting in an image and it would be nice to know how to remove them, like power lines are especially annoying!
@isisweiss@wac Thank you Isis & Wendy but I don't do fences (not yet anyway)!! :) I'm way too lazy for that plus I was afraid it might be private property since it was a very small cemetary but I may have to practice fence jumping since lately I have been doing some increasingly strange stuff to get the shot I want!! I just know it's a matter of time before one of the 365'ers gets arrested for tresspassing! :)
@molizard Thank you and I know what you mean! I'm leary of actually going into a cemetary because if someone asked me why I was there I'd have no justification except a weird desire to take a picture of the headstones plus I've always had the fear that if I walk over a grave a hand is going to reach up and grab my ankle....I know, I'm weird...I must have watched too many scary movies as a kid!! :)
Hi again,
Thanks for telling me about the BBC vid. That was fun. I will let you know when my court date is because my son is sure I am going to be the one arrested!
Fence or no fence I like this shot. Actually the fence may add to the subject here . . . small rural cemetery so carefully protected. On the subject of visiting cemeteries - we often walk through older cemeteries reading the gravestones. There's lots of history there. Pretty weird, eh?
Up in the 30's? Oh holy moly we're spoiled here on the Cali coast. It's been in the mid 70's all week! You know, i kinda like the fence on this one...keeps the zombies out right? Seriously, it just adds another graphic piece to the compostion.
Thank you so much for visiting so many of my shots and taking the time to comment. I was proper chuffed (as we say in Liverpool) :-)
