I usually try to do bugs with a macro lens but they always move or fly away if I try to get too close so today I used my long lens and this guy just sat there preening away since I wasn't right on top of him. Would have been better if he was sitting on a pretty flower or something but I guess I'll have to settle for a wicker chair.
I have been using my long lens for flowers too. I like the softer effects and the more artistic feeling. I love both types of shots and wish I had twice the time to use both lenses. This is a great shot. I think the graphic feeling adds to the shot. I like your framing too. It is fun to work with all of these parts to create a nice image.
The detail and colours are amazing. And i have to say I like the wicker chair background! The fly contrasts nicely against the chair and the pattern adds an extra level of interest. Cool shot.
So cool! I love how he stands out against the white! I think fly's are ok from a distance, but i still get the creeps from all the hairs on their bodies...
