This fine building was once home to Habitat (as part of the wider Heal's building), but they seem to have retrenched into being part of Sainsbury's.
This should have been a good day but started off feeling quite down about all the shit going on in Ukraine. Then managed to have an argument with Dave as he got impatient with me taking up room in the kitchen - I've been trying so hard to stay positive and grateful for things, it just got to me and I couldn't shake it off all day.
Zumba at 11. Left to get the tube into town, but derailed by it being suspended from Seven Sisters. Managed to get to the Phoenix Theatre via overground and the Central line for Come From Away about the planes that were grounded in a small town in Newfoundland in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. Absolutely brilliant, although the subject matter didn't really help my mood. Why people want to do horrendous things to other people will never cease to amaze me.
Went to a fave restaurant of ours after, Mestizo for queso frito, mushroom crepes and margaritas. Very full now.
3 good things
1. A seriously good musical, excellent acting, music and staging. Very clever.
2. Mestizo seemed busy and bustling, good that they've weathered COVID.
3. Seemed a touch milder today.
We lived in Newfoundland for 3 years, and my husband used to work in Gander, where Come from away was set. We are still in touch with friends in newfoundland. Such a great feel-good show, despite the tragic story.
Looks at those windows! Sorry you had a rough start to the day, Glad you did something active, that always puts me in a better mood...I haven't heard of that play before but sounds good. Also those margaritas look fabulous!
The building looks so sad now😔 I loved Come From Away- agree subject matter is tough but it really is uplifting - and in a way watching how the Ukrainian refugees are being helped with such generosity is also uplifting. Why these things happen is another matter.
@jcoder thanks for your kind words. Feel better today.
